INESC Coimbra is a private non-profit institution with public utility status, affiliated with the University of Coimbra, INESC, and the Polytechnic of Leiria.

Its mission is to conduct scientific research and promote technological development and knowledge transfer to society — contributing to better performance by companies and institutions through a systems engineering approach that combines theory and methodology, technical and human factors, to address complex problems relevant to sustainable development, grounded in a strongly interdisciplinary research team.

Its research and innovation areas span decision support systems and methods, energy systems and policies, communication network design and management, spatial decision support for regional and urban planning, geospatial information, hydraulic infrastructure and water resources management, computational mechanics applied to structural systems, and advanced robotics and smart factories.
